Grania is a purebred Irish Draught mare. She was bred in New Zealand, by Irishman, and ex-Master of the Scarteen Hunt (in Ireland) Thady Ryan. After a trip to New Zealand in 2002 to see her, she proved to be the quality required to become Icarus Park Stud’s foundation mare, and she was subsequently imported to Australia in early 2003.
‘Phoebe’ is a purebred Irish Draught mare bred in North Yorkshire, Great Britain by Appledark Irish Draughts. She is a very traditional type mare, with excellent bone and conformation. She passed her RID inspection in the UK as a 2 year old. We imported her to Australia (we call her the international equine traveler) in late 2007, in foal to Ballyknowe Prince RID who stands in Scotland.
Maeve is a 3/4 bred Irish Sport horse. She’s a lovely big lass, with plenty of bone, and stands at 17hh. Prior to her broodmare career, she performed in EFA level dressage, under the name of ‘The Warrior Queen.’
Be Be is an Irish Sport horse mare, by Coosheen Liam RID (Imp UK, dec.) out of Wanton Court. Her dam was an old style heavy type thoroughbred mare, chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail, and Be Be has inherited a dorsal stripe, supposedly carrying the buckskin gene.
‘Cracker’ is a 3/4 bred Irish Sport horse filly, by Kilharken RID, out of Icarus BeBe ISH. She is Be Be’s first foal. Before Cracker was born, a good friend had commented that she would have a ‘cracker’ of a foal, and this is how she came to be named. She IS definitely that cracker.
Rose is an Australian Studbook, thoroughbred mare, and has been a part of the family since she was a three year old, freshly off the track. During her performance career she competed under the name of Century Rose, primarily in eventing to 1.15m and was a very handy mount, showing immense jumping ability and speed.
