Frosty, or Frozzie, as he is known to us, is a lovely young stallion, sired by Crosstown Dancer RID (Ire) out of Hararis, a performance thoroughbred mare. Frosty was conceived in Australia, using frozen semen imported from Ireland. He is the only progeny in Australia conceived by frozen semen, of the highly acclaimed Crosstown Dancer (visit Crosstown Stud Ireland), five time champion Irish Draught stallion at the Royal Dublin Show. His dam was a very competitive thoroughbred event mare in her day, now retired at the stud. His great grandsire, King of Diamonds was a prolific producer of international showjumpers, and currently many talented Irish Sport Horses all over the world have King of Diamonds blood in their pedigrees.
He was broken to saddle in 2005 and was lightly ridden then, showing willingness and enthusiasm for his work. His movement is BIG, with expressive flowing paces, and true sport horse athleticism. He has an outstanding easy going temperament, and correct conformation. Frosty’s ridden career re-commenced in February 2008, in preparation for the Royal Melbourne Horse Show. After the Royal his next major event was a very busy breeding season, 2008-9. He was bought back into work after the breeding season, competing in dressage, showjumping and eventing. Frosty loves jumping, and had only been jumping a few months when he won the TTT Shark NET Horse Trials in May 2009, held at Wandin Park, Victoria.
Frosty suits sport horse breeders wanting to produce an athletic horse, with natural jumping ability, movement and a cool trainable Irish Draught temperament. Mares that have had Frosty foals are Irish Sport Horses, Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Welsh Cobs, Warmblood x Arabian and a Belgian Draft x Percheron, so he has sired a variety of sport horses.
Size does matter!! Frosty is not a huge sport horse, and this attribute makes him a fantastic and sensible choice of sire for large mares, hunter/showjumper pony types and maiden mares.
Frosty commenced stud work in 2005, with 100% fertility on first service. This fertile trend has continued every season to date. He is available at public stud, for the 2009-10 breeding season by fresh semen, inseminated on stud, or we can send chilled semen to you.
Give us a call, or email
info@icarusparkstud.com.au and arrange to meet Frosty, we love to show him off, and he enjoys visitors. You are also welcome to email to find out when Frosty will be competing next, and you are welcome to see him at the event.
